ARRL Kids Day — Join Us at Harris Park!

Page content

Mark your calendars! SCACS will be participating in ARRL Kids Day on Saturday, June 20, 2025, set up at Harris Park in Dunlap, Tennessee.

Kids Day is a twice-yearly event sponsored by the ARRL designed to give young people a chance to experience amateur radio firsthand — make a real contact, talk to someone across the country, and discover what ham radio is all about. It’s one of the most fun days on the amateur radio calendar, and we’d love to see the whole community come out.

What to expect

  • Get on the air — Kids get to sit at the mic and make actual HF contacts with stations across the country (and sometimes the world!)
  • Talk to the experts — Club members will be on hand to answer questions about licenses, equipment, and getting started in the hobby
  • See the gear — We’ll have HF and VHF/UHF stations set up and running
  • Free and open to the public — No experience or license required to attend

Bring the family

Kids Day is a family event — parents, grandparents, and curious adults are all welcome. If you’ve ever wondered what ham radio is or thought about getting your license, this is a great chance to see it in action with no pressure.

We’ll also have information on upcoming licensing exam sessions if anyone is ready to take the next step.

Volunteers needed

Club members — we need your help! We’re looking for operators to run the HF station, elmers to work with the kids, and a few extra hands for setup and teardown. If you can volunteer any part of the day, please contact us.

Setup will begin at 9:00 AM. Please arrive early if you can help get antennas in the air.

See you at the park — 73!
